House of Representatives Approves Bill to Designate Navy SEAL Museum Memorial a National Memorial Site

Fort Pierce, Fla. – September 8, 2021 – The Navy SEAL Museum hosted a commemoration in recognition of the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Armed Services approving a bill that will designate the Museum’s Memorial a national memorial. U.S. Representative Stephanie Murphy and Michael Waltz offered the bill text as an amendment to the FY22 National Defense Authorization Act during the committee’s September 1 markup.

“We are excited the House Armed Services Committee has passed this legislation,” said Museum Executive Director Grant Mann. “Continuing this process helps the Museum advance our mission, making sure our fallen warriors are never forgotten. We look forward to seeing the NDAA being passed by the full House and Senate and sent to the President for signature.”

The legislation will simultaneously be considered as an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2022, a package that is expected to be brought before the House of Representatives imminently. The commemoration highlighting progress of the legislation took place today at the Museum’s Memorial with U.S. Representative Brian Mast in attendance. An abiding Museum supporter, Representative Mast has been instrumental with his enthusiasm for the legislation.

About The Navy SEAL Museum
The National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum is the only museum dedicated solely to preserving the history of the U.S. Navy SEALs and their predecessors. Located in Fort Pierce, Florida, the Museum resides on the training grounds of the original Navy combat divers, the Frogmen. Built to honor the men who served with fortitude and ingenuity, the Navy UDT-SEAL Museum first opened its doors on Veterans Day in 1985. From humble beginnings, the facility has experienced tremendous growth, achieving national stature in 2007. The main objective of the Museum remains the promotion of public education by providing the opportunity to explore the history of the Navy SEALs through interactive exhibits, while honoring the fallen at the SEAL Memorial and caring for those warriors’ families through Trident House Charities Program.
