“The Doherty Family, in partnership with the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation, is truly honored to receive a bench dedicated to our brother and Navy SEAL Glen Doherty at the Memorial Garden within the Navy SEAL Museum in Ft. Pierce, Florida,” said Kate Quigley, sister, President of the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation. “Knowing his legacy will continue to live on and inspire the next generation gives us great pride. I truly look forward to the day that my family and friends can visit, have a seat on his bench, and reflect on his amazing life and heroic sacrifice.”

Grant Mann, Executive Director of the Navy SEAL Museum, expressed the Museum’s gratitude for the meaningful donation. “We are deeply honored to receive this bench in memory of Glen Doherty. The bench not only commemorates his bravery and selflessness but also provides a place for visitors to pause and reflect on the sacrifices made by all Navy SEALs in service to our nation. Glen’s legacy will continue to inspire and educate future generations of patriots and warriors.”

The Glen Doherty Bench is now a permanent fixture in the Navy SEAL Museum’s Memorial Garden, serving as a place of reflection for visitors, family, and friends to honor and remember his sacrifice. It resides adjacent to a bench that was donated in Ty Wood’s honor. Woods, who also dedicated his life to service as a SEAL, lost his life at the United States Consulate attack in Benghazi, as well.

The Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation (GDMF) was established to honor the life and legacy of Glen Doherty by providing scholarships and other assistance to special operations professionals and their families. Established to help ease the transition from military to civilian work for the Special Operations Community, The Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation was inspired by Glen’s love of learning and his passion for adventure. We aim to bring personal advancement into the lives of as many Special Operators as possible.

About The Navy SEAL Museum Memorial
The National Navy SEAL Museum Memorial serves as a living tribute to the courageous service of Navy SEALs and their predecessors. Central to the memorial is the Memorial Garden, meticulously designed to echo the botanical history of these elite warriors. The serene space offers solace and reflection for Gold Star Families and visitors alike, featuring over 1,000 flowers planted in remembrance of the fallen. Each flower is a symbolic representation of the global locations where Navy Frogmen have trained, fought, and died, with detailed markers providing information through QR codes.

Additionally, the Memorial Living Beach honors the fallen with Twin 90 UDT Scuba Tanks that contain sand from key sites around the world, symbolizing places where SEALs and their forerunners have trained, bled, and died. Sand is contributed from these sacred sites during the Museum’s Annual Memorial Day Ceremonies.

Also commemorated within the Memorial is the Naval Special Warfare K9 Memorial, dedicated to the Combat Assault Dogs who have given their lives in service to the nation. Established on November 7, 2020, the NSW K9 Memorial honors the loyalty and sacrifice of these War Dogs.

About The Navy SEAL Museum
The National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum is the only museum dedicated solely to preserving the history of the U.S. Navy SEALs and their predecessors. Located in Fort Pierce, Florida, the Museum resides on the training grounds of the original Navy combat divers, the Frogmen.
